AOL passes 15 million member mark

Subscribers gave US dial-up giant America Online (AOL) a holiday gift with more people signing up for service on Christmas than any other single day in the company's history, pushing the Internet service provider's membership past 15 million worldwide. AOL also tallied the fastest addition of 1 million new members with its jump from 14 million to 15 million from mid-November to Dec. 25, the company said in a written statement. The company had 1 million members in August of 1994.
