The European distribution rights for a New Zealand accounting software firm’s product range have been acquired by UK tax software provider FDS.
Advanced Professional Systems (APS) sold its Advance range of practice management and accounting products into the Australian market last year and is aiming to break into the UK market.
Auckland-based APS managing director Shane Compton is hopeful the arrangement with FDS will result in European sales, because of FDS’s established client base. The product will be launched in Europe at the beginning of this month as FDS Advance.
Advance is used in New Zealand by KPMG, Pannell Kerr Forster, HLB and Deloitte & Touche. Compton says the company has clients in the Australian market but says he is unable to name them yet.
FDS managing director Ray Sieber says FDS has learned from its clients that there is a real demand for more than “the typical disjointed set of products” in the accounting market, including those that use the latest technologies but which do not properly interconnect data and processes.
FDS recently completed a research and development programme which took its Taxpoint product on to a full 32-bit Windows 95/98/NT platform accessing SQL Server, Oracle, Ingres and Access data-bases. The same technology will now be applied to all its products.
