Internet services broker iPass next month plans to release enhancements to its Corporate Access Internet roaming and virtual private network (VPN) offerings, which help reduce costs and ease management of remote-access administration.
Announced last week, Version 4.0 of iPass RoamServer remote-access software, which is installed at corporate sites, will include cross-platform support via the Java programming language, as well as "push" capabilities, which will enable iPass to run remote diagnostic tools for customers and download new software enhancements to IT managers upon request. Also new is support for the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol for integration with corporate directories.
iPass also has improved its connection software for network access to enable one-click VPN integration to iPass's 3,000 access points in 150 countries, said Karen Chakmakian, director of marketing at iPass. The software, which now supports Windows NT, will allow for automatic phone book updates when connecting to the Internet, she added.
In addition, the company's Clearinghouse platform capacity has been increased to 100 million transactions per day. Clearinghouse is iPass's platform for ISP billing services.
The products will be available in March, with a set-up fee starting at US$4,995.
