Senator blocks planned Telstra sale

Tasmanian Senator, Brian Harradine has put a stop to Australian federal government plans to sell off the remaining stake of Telstra. Harradine, who holds the Senate balance of power until July 1, will vote against the full sale of Telstra, in the legislation hearing due to be voted on before Easter. He did however, suggest that 16.6% more of Telstra could be sold, leaving the Australian government with 50.1% and generating $A17 billion in revenue..

Harradine, who holds the Senate balance of power until July 1, confirmed he will vote against the full sale of Telstra, in the legislation hearing due to be voted on before Easter.

Harradine, did however, suggest that 16.6% more of Telstra could be sold, leaving the Australian government with 50.1%and generating $A17 billion in revenue for the government.

The Telstra legislation is due to be debated this week.
