Bestselling business author and former executive with IBM and Eastman Kodak John Naisbitt will be speaking at the APEC Business Symposium in Auckland in June.

The symposium will provide information on global trends and ways to capitalise on business opportunities APEC presents, says organiser Trade New Zealand.

Naisbitt is a leading authority on economic and social trends and has more than 40 years' experience as an executive with IBM and Eastman Kodak.

His book, Megatrends was on the New York Times bestseller list for more than two years. It sold eight million copies in 18 countries.

The impact of new technology on business is one of the key topics to be discussed at the symposium. This will include the increasing impact of technology and

e-commerce on competitiveness and the trade advantages of working in a global, borderless economy.

Another key speaker from overseas is Rosabeth Moss Kanter, who was named by The Times of London as one of the 50 most powerful women in the world. She has written a number of business bestsellers.

Trade NZ Millennium project manager Paul Voigt says the symposium will highlight the business opportunities APEC offers in terms of free trade and investment.

"It will focus on how companies can take advantage of the new technology, investment opportunities and increased competition to succeed in an APEC environment," he says.

Business people from throughout New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region are expected to attend.

The symposium will be at the Aotea Centre from June 24 to June 26.
