Sweetwaters database, domain name in new hands

The financially disastrous Sweetwaters festival may yet rise again -using a mailing database and domain name apparently obtained from the now-bankrupted promoter Daniel Keighley. An email sent yesterday promises a 'Sweetwaters 20th birthday bash' next year and asks those interested to re-register on the database at a new Website at http://www.sweetwaters.co.nz.

The financially disastrous Sweetwaters festival may yet rise again –using a mailing database and domain name apparently obtained from the now-bankrupted promoter Daniel Keighley.

An email headed 'Update from Sweetwaters' has gone out to those who registered an interest in the festival via its Website last year. Describing the financial problems with this year's festival as "a real pity" it promises that "the phoenix will arise from the ashes for you to enjoy Sweetwaters 2000 - the Sweetwaters 20th birthday bash."

Those interested are asked to re-register on the database at a new Website at http://www.sweetwaters.co.nz. The domain sweetwaters.co.nz is now listed as being registered to Sweetwaters 2000 Management Ltd, with the contact given as Paul McLuckie, a member of the original Sweetwaters management team.

The email says the festival is now in the hands of "totally new but very experienced management - the team that ran the original Sweetwaters" and says a birthday festival next year is "almost definite".

"To avoid the problems of this year, it will obviously be very different in many ways, a major one being having the acts that you most want to see, so that more people will come to pay for the great festival we are creating," the email says.

"In other words, it will be very much a customer-driven festival, and the Internet gives us an amazing facility to get this feedback from you, as well as keep you informed of developments as they happen."
