Deloitte has continued its push for visibility in the online business sector with the announcement of a Website dedicated to coverage of next month's Budget.
Although the Budget is not delivered until May 20, the site at http://www.budget99.co.nz, will launch May 10 with pre-budget commentary from Deloitte and other analysts, as well as video reports and stories from One Network News reporters covering previous Budgets, and political and business issues.
On May 20 video of the the Budget speech and the parliamentary debate which follows will be streamed live on the site, accompanied by analysis. Links will be provided to relevant Websites including business, government and Treasury, with updates throughout the day.
Deloitte's Stephen Dickens says the company will also make available "video highlights" of the Budget speech and of the Budget Breakfast briefing the following morning. All this material will be archived and remain available to Internet users.
Judging by the date of DeLoitte's registration of the budget99.co.nz domain name, the project has been in preparation since November last year.
TVNZ's New Media content manager, John Marks sees the site as a pointer to the future of broadcasting on the Internet. "In-depth relevant data, text and video can now be delivered direct to those who need it. And while the clarity and immediacy traditionally associated with TV will remain, Internet technology allows us to store both the original information and substantial background material for later use."
