The Microsoft-Packer joint venture NineMSN has made its first step into the New Zealand Internet space with a local site based on its successful Australian boat trading site, BoatPoint.

The site, found at www.boatpoint.co.nz, was launched on June 3 to tie in the 1999 New Zealand Boatshow. According to Nine- MSN it is “specifically tailored for New Zealanders” and offers search engine access more than 5000 New Zealand and Australian boats.

At launch the site also includes links to useful boating information such as tides and marine weather forecasts. Editorial content specific to New Zealand boaties is being developed.

NineMSN launched BoatPoint in Australia last year, and it says user feedback identified the need for a New Zealand site.

Kerry Packer’s ACP magazine stable includes Trade-A-Boat in Australia and New Zealand.
