The credit checking company Baycorp Holdings now offers Reuters business news online. Baycorp's Baynet Web site began offering Reuters Business Briefing on a subscription basis last week. Reuters Business Briefing sources information from news wires, newspapers and business magazines including Computerworld, The National Business Review, The Independent, NZPA, The New Zealand Herald and The Dominion.
Historically, Reuters news and financial information has been delivered in real time almost exclusively to financial dealing rooms, treasuries and news media, but got into online news content about five years ago.
So far, local Web sites offering Reuters content include Brieleys, Yahoo New Zealand, National Bank, Asia 2000, Christchurch Press, Telecom Xtra, TVNZ and Fletcher Challenge. According to Baycorp, Baynet has more than 10,000 customers and provides an average of 15,000 reports to subscribers each day.
Reuters has also announced a joint venture with rival financial news provider Dow Jones to combine the Reuters Business Briefing service with Dow Jones' online archived news service called Dow Jones Interactive. Reuters Business Briefing subscribers, such as those at BayNet, can expect to see the combined product by September, he says.
