The Internet Society was still waiting last night for a response to questions put to Telecom in a meeting over the 0867 issue on Friday.
Telecom, which was supplied with Isocnz's questions 15 days before the meeting, undertook to provide written responses by close of day on Tuesday. But the answers have yet to arrive and Isocnz's executive director, Sue Leader, has received no explanation for the delay.
A message to Isocnz members from Leader yesterday said that after a series of delays "Telecom managed to get the right group of people together at the same time and place" for a meeting that proved productive, "with answers being provided to almost all our questions. In addition, Isocnz was able to negotiate some favorable outcomes for our stakeholders."
The Isocnz council had resolved to wait for Telecom's written responses before deciding on an official position on 0867 and local data charging. Both Telecom's answers and Isocnz's position will be made public.
The questions posed to Telecom were compiled from those put by Isocnz stakeholders, says Leader, primarily via the society's mailing list. During the wait for Telecom to name a meeting date, the questions were refined under subject headings. Both are linked from:
