Prophet Accounting Software will be supported and developed by new Australian owner AttachÇ Software.
Australian developer Attache which bought local company Logical Methods this month, will now trade as Attache and Prophet Software.
Chief executive Colin Gorton says he does not see Attache as a replacement for Prophet, and the company will continue to sell and support both products. However, the development paths of the two are likely to come together at some point "to create the next generation of more open, flexible software, able to handle [electronic] commerce applications and so on".
The integration will take some time, he says, because the two products are written in different languages - Attache in C++ and Prophet in Delphi.
Attache bought Logical Methods to have access to the user base it needs for development.
