New York-based Computer Associates International Inc. and Orem, Utah-based Caldera Systems Inc. announced a partnership in which CA will develop its Unicenter TNG management framework for Caldera's distribution of the Linux operating system.
CA and Caldera competitor Red Hat Software Inc. in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, announced such a partnership in March. CA also has similar partnerships with SuSE GmbH of Germany and TurboLinux, formerly Pacific HiTech Inc., according to Ken Farber, senior vice president of worldwide alliances at CA.
Under Caldera's agreement with CA, the companies will jointly market each other's products and the two will be available as a bundled suite. The bundle is available worldwide now and will be demonstrated at CA World next week in New Orleans, according to Farber.
In recent weeks Caldera has begun to catch up to Red Hat's runaway lead in high-profile partnerships. At PC Expo last month, Caldera and IBM Corp. announced a joint training and support deal. Red Hat and IBM had announced a partnership earlier in the year.
