Intuit New Zealand, the local distributor of Quicken financial management -software, is expanding with the addition of new staff and services.
Until now the 14-month-old company had only one staff member.
Kerry Wood, who has been appointed as the new country manager, says pre-sales support, technical support and registration will be set up to run from the Auckland office. Before now these functions have been handled from Sydney.
Intuit New Zealand, which is soon to be renamed Quicken New Zealand, is a subsidiary of Sydney-based Reckon Limited which last year secured the rights to distribute and market localised versions of Quicken and QuickBooks software (created by US-based Intuit) in New Zealand. Reckon has also developed further pro-ducts under the Quicken umbrella brand.
Wood, previously a business manager for Telecom Directories, is responsible for establishing and managing the com-pany's Auckland-based New Zealand operation and recruiting a team to manage marketing, distribution, support and training for Quicken products. He could not give specifics at this stage on how many new staff members will be employed.
Wood says the Quicken range in New Zealand will soon be extended with the forthcoming release of QuickPayroll, QuickPayroll PRO and QuickPOS - a point-of-sale system for retail businesses. Quicken is the major competitor of Microsoft Money.
"We will be developing relationships with accredited trainers to provide comprehensive training support for people who buy our products and [will be] forging closer ties with accountants through our Quicken professional partners programme."
