Television New Zealand is days away from launching its new Internet presence with an enhanced business Website whose branding will be carried through into a stable of targeted news sites.

The broadcaster registered the domain names onebusiness.co.nz and onetravel.co.nz a month ago, and TVNZ spokesman John Marks has confirmed the overall branding will follow a similar form.

"The rest of the new sites will start emerging as onehealth, onepolitics, onenews, oneinternational - that sort of thing. There'll be a stable of dedicated news sites emerging under a central portal - although I hate the word 'portal'."

There is no public site available yet at http://www.onebusiness.co.nz, but components of the new business site will be added to TVNZ's existing site over the next few days.

"We probably won't go seriously public on it until next week," says Marks. "The big push on that one is the video component, which will start small - we'll have live reports from JB Were's stock trading room a couple of times a day and then we'll start building that up with reports from other places."

As reported in Computerworld, TVNZ is also working with the New Zealand firm RPK Security to beta-test RPK's SecureMedia technology for on-the-fly encryption of video streams - which facilitates the deliver of Internet video streams to paying customers.

Among other domains registered recently by TVNZ are two related to the new Football Kingz soccer side, which has been formed to compete in the Australian football league. TVNZ already has online partnerships with New Zealand Rugby and New Zealand Netball, but Marks says there is nothing in place with the Football Kingz.

"All [the domain names] indicate is the hope that we might have a Kingz site of some sort," says Marks. "We don't have anything I can announce."
