Clear, Telstra, Ihug, Unlimited and ARL honoured at Tuanz Awards

Clear and Telstra reprised last year's successes and Animation Research, Ihug and Unlimited magazine were also among the the recpients when the 1999 Tuanz Awards were announced at this week's ceremony in Wellington

Computerworld reporter and Unlimited magazine writer Russell Brown won the Ericsson Award for the best media ICT story or broadcast at the Tuanz awards last week.

Brown's winning story, 'Telecom's Xtra Agony' was published in Unlimited's debut issue last December.

Clear Communications was voted the most responsive New Zealand telco, Telstra gives the best telecommunications advice and Nick Wood of the Internet Group (Ihug) was presented with the TUANZ chairman's award for his contribution to the advance of telecommunications in New Zealand.

Amtel's Rockwell Call Management Application was voted best new product, while Animation Graphics America's Cup graphics won product or service of the decade.

Other award winners include Television New Zealand and Deloitte Consulting for Budget Special 99 (best application of ICT), Saturn Communications (best example of ICT supporting business expansion), the University of Waikato's online learning services (most innovative use if ICT technology in education), Consultel Associates (best exporter).
