Telecom has contacted subscribers to its JetStream ADSL service to say that most of the data traffic clocked up in its first month will be written off.
The form letter from JetStream senior product manager Dino Ciminiello was delivered on Saturday. It says that due to "teething problems", "all megabytes used between 1st and 21st July (inclusive) will be reversed on your account."
The period quoted in the letter begins two days after JetStream's commercial launch. Telecom had to fly in troubleshooters from the US and Finland to get the service working again, but some customers are still reporting bouts of either very slow service or complete outages.
Ciminiello's letter is vague on the nature and extent of the problems. It says JetStream has been introduced to "hundreds of customers" and that it "hasn't been without its moments ... and we recognise that teething problems have caused some inconvenience".
