All the right moves

We don't usually associate the furniture removal business with adventures in new media - and still less with aesthetic tastiness (what's that old saying about piano movers and piano tuners?) - but we might have to think again.

Cool Moves’ small, simple site doesn’t do much beyond providing brief details of the Wellington company’s services ("Truck comes with one Scotsman and additional heavyweight"), pricing and contact details, but it does so in an elegant, attractive manner from which many larger firms could learn. Economical Javascript animations liven up the site’s two pages, the site includes a link to Radio Active’s accommodation guide (so you can find "somewhere to move your objects") — and, in a nicely integrated technical flourish, visitors can use the SMS Internet messaging service to type a message for delivery to the Scotsman’s cellphone. If ever the phrase "small, but perfectly formed" was warranted, this is it. Nice work. —Russell Brown Cool Moves
