Dear What Am I Worth,

I am a developer/analyst for an Auckland company producing software for the retail industry. I design and code programs in a team environment using ASP, VB, VBScript, HTML. I have six months’ experience in this with a further three years’ experience in VB. Also I spent two years prior to this working as a support engineer dealing with both hardware and software issues.

My qualifications include an advanced certificate in business computing, MCSE NT4.0, MCSD (VB6, Visual Interdev, SQL) and MCDBA (SQL 7). I have performed training within my current role and this has involved overseas travel at times. I am proactive in learning and continue to read and keep up with industry changes as much as possible.

Protocol Personnel replies: You have a good mixture of skills and qualifications, which is important. Your skills would likely be in very high demand. As your web design skills increase so will your salary. I would estimate your market value to be $75,000 to $85,000+. Your salary will really depend on the nature of the work. It would be higher for a web DBA and lower for a VB programmer/analyst and support.
