Dear What Am I Worth,

I am a team leader for a systems integrator in central Auckland, managing a team of eight helpdesk analysts providing outsourced helpdesk services to several medium-sized corporations. I handle all areas of their management (including discipline, reviews & salary) and am responsible for my own recruiting.

My duties also include some service management and an involvement in the client relationship. I serve as an escalation point within the team for any non-technical issues and I report to a departmental manager (along with three other team leaders).

My technical background includes three years as a helpdesk analyst before moving into my current role. I have 16 months’ experience in my current role as team leader and a total of 4.5 years’ experience in the industry. I have certificates in operating business computers and computer systems administration, both from AIT, and A+, CNA and MCP (Win95 & network essentials).

I am also half way towards a Dip Bus Admin (being studied extramurally).

Protocol Personnel replies: This varies dramatically from company to company, but we would expect you could earn $50,000 to $60,000.
