Auckland-based Software of Excellence has won a tender to provide dental software to New Zealand’s combined defence forces.
Roll-out to nine dental clinics around the country will start next month.
The deal comes close behind a contract to supply the UK dental chain Boots which plans to have 50 dental practices running the software by the end of March.
Software of Excellence chief Paul Weatherly says defence forces have similar dental requirements throughout the world and hopes to use the experience gained from contract to help the company develop a niche market for military dental software.
The software company, which listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange last December, produces clinical software for dental practices as well as hospitals, community health organisations and dental chains. More than 2800 private dental practice customers in New Zealand, the UK, US and Australia use its product Exact. Corporate customers include Edinburgh Postgraduate Institute, Greenlane Hospital, Royal London Hospital as well as public health agencies in Australia, the UK and New Zealand.
