The Maori Spectrum Trust won't comment on what it plans to do with 3G frequencies put aside for it during the government's spectrum auction.

"We are in negotiations with several possible partners and it's not appropriate that we comment at this time," says spokesman Roger Mackie.

One 15MHz block of so-called third generation spectrum was held out of the auction and will be sold to the Maori trust for 95% of the average price paid for the remaining 3G spectrum.

Meanwhile, the second part of the auction, for 2G licences and 1098 plan licences, continues and current bids total just over $6 million.
