Third prosecution in online pyramid scam

World Net promoter promoter, Gregory Paul Williamson faces a $4,000 fine after an ongoing investigation by the Commerce Commission which has seen two others found guilty at the Auckland District Court.

A $4,000 fine ordered at the Auckland District Court for World Net promoter Gregory Paul Williamson, is the result of an ongoing Commerce Commission investigation into online pyramid selling scam World Net.

The Commission is also prosecuting a fourth man it alleges promoted the scheme.

Two others have already been fined. Gregory Paul Williamson was ordered to pay $4,000 for promoting World Net and a further $4,000 for promoting a similar scheme , Focus International Credit Card Plan. Kevin Leslie Bryson has also been fined $2,500 for promoting World Net.

World Net was based in Texas. People paid US$149 plus US$10 to join. Promoters claimed people could turn the US$159 into US$1.2 million by using it.
