Dunedin engineers almost go online

Dunedin City Council has launched an online directory of engineering companies, although the launch was delayed by a mix-up with ISP Xtra, according to Dunedin City Council promotions officer Jennifer Hooker.

Dunedin City Council has launched an online directory of engineering companies, although the launch was delayed by a mix-up with ISP Xtra, according to Dunedin City Council promotions officer Jennifer Hooker.

"They didn't use the URL we requested, www.dunedinengineering.co.nz. They did put up the reverse, however, and the site is available at www.engineeringdunedin.co.nz." Hooker says the original address, which is not yet registered with Domainz, will be usable in "the next couple of days".

The site will feature a directory of engineering firms based in Dunedin and includes contact information and a brief description of the areas of expertise each company lays claim to.

The city council claims the engineering sector employs 2000 people in Dunedin and is worth around $200 million a year.
