Dear What Am I Worth,
I have been working in a remote support role for a large company for over two years supporting over 2000 users nationwide. I work with a variety of systems such as Windows NT4 and Server, Win95, 98, Exchange, Novell servers and have hardware experience with this company – such as installing H/D, Ram, motherboards, fault finding etc.
I am a Microsoft certified professional, have a certificate in personal computing and servicing and a certificate in business skills.
IT Futures replies: You will find that the depth of your experience with server level issues will determine your salary. If you can point to supporting/implementing/upgrading at that level your options will be greater than with a focus on desktop support. Assuming that you have the server level skills a vendor company could pay a $70,000 package including car allowance and a corporate around $60,000.
