Hawkes Bay-based financial software company Intersoft Systems has picked up it first export order outside Australasia.

The company says it has signed a five-figure deal to supply a Barbados furniture manufacturer and retailer with its Windows-based finPower hire purchase and finance system. FinPower can track payments and overdue instalments and calculate interest. Marketing manager Paul Thompson says interest in the product came via the company’s website just before Christmas.

Thompson says the time difference between New Zealand and the Caribbean presents few support problems. When queries are emailed at the end of the day from Barbados it is mid-morning here, he says, and they can be dealt with for the start of the following Barbados work day.

Thompson says finPower has received other interest via the web, mostly from the Caribbean or South Africa, and he expects more major export deals.
