PC maker Acer is hoping for a jump in notebook sales from a new service offer on Travelmate notebooks.
It is promising to carry out warranty repairs within two hours of 520 and 730 series notebooks being delivered to service agents in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The offer applies to notebooks sold after June 4.
Acer service head Bill Boswell says a similar service in Australia has lifted sales by a third since its introduction 12 months ago.
He says the service demands a big investment in parts, which will be kept by repair agents JDI in Auckland, CBD IT in Wellington and Dove Electronics in Christchurch. It covers normal warranty repairs, and excludes failure from wear and tear and software problems.
