BBC will broadcast a 30-minute one-off radio drama that will be carried by the BBC’s official Dr Who website in six RealAudio files.

The Doctor will be played by Sylvester McCoy reprising his role as the Doctor's seventh incarnation and Sophie Aldred plays Ace - the pair were inhabitants of the Tardis when BBC shut down the series in 1989. New Zealand television has yet to show any of McCoy’s Doctor, or in fact any of the Doctor before that, although TVNZ did show the one-off movie, made in 1996 with Paul McGann as the eighth Doctor.

The files form a 30-minute audio play called Death Comes to Time in which according to the BBC website “the Doctor enlist the help of a mysterious Timelord (Stephen Fry) to battle an alien warlord (John Sessions) who is fighting for control of time itself”.
