Despite the appointment of Kiwi Co-operative Dairies chief Craig Norgate as head of the huge new Global Dairy Company, there will be no short-term decisions on IT for the combined company, says Graham Stuart, project manager for the company formation.
Nor will decisions emerge soon on how the existing IT strategies and facilities of Kiwi and partner the Dairy Board might be combined.
Media have quoted one Global Dairy executive as saying little change was expected, but Stuart says such a conclusion is premature.
Global needs to tackle its organisational structure and design, deciding where responsibilities will lie and how linked or autonomous various business units will be, Stuart says. IT strategies will be contingent on those decisions.
“There are months rather than weeks in that [business restructuring] process,” he says. “I think we should have a really good feel for it by Christmas.”
