IBM in New Zealand and Australia says it is unaffected by Big Blue’s latest round of job cuts.
US media reports say IBM is laying off about 1000 people from its Global Services group because it says their skills are no longer needed. Global Services is IBM’s fast-growing consulting and technology arm, but it denies any slowdown. The group employs around 150,000 worldwide, just under half of the IBM total.
IBM New Zealand spokesman Jeremy Seed says IBM employs about 11,000 staff in Australia and New Zealand, but the job cuts only affect the US.
