Open source software provider Red Hat is about to strike a deal with an Auckland firm to supply its services in New Zealand.

Open source software provider Red Hat is about to strike a deal with an Auckland firm to supply its services in New Zealand.

Red Hat Asia-Pacific director of alliances Robert Hart says he hopes to announce the local channel partner soon but says negotiations are still underway.

Red Hat, which offers a version of Linux, says New Zealand is currently serviced by its offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Last week Red Hat announced new consultation and implementation services covering Linux migration and open source web technology.
