Dear What Am I Worth,

I have a bachelor degree in geography and a postgraduate diploma in applied information technology from ITI in Canada.

I have just under six months’ professional experience working as a quality assurance engineer for an internet start-up company (pre-IPO) in Arizona. In this position I developed an application using Visual Basic, SQL and an Oracle database. My skill set ranges from Visual Basic 6, SQL, Oracle 8, PL/SQL, Developer 2000, MS Access, MS FrontPage, Visual Age for Java, ASP, Visual Modeler, MTS, UML, GUIDS methodologies, VB Script, IIS and Active X.

I would like to move from the QA position to a developer’s position, preferably Visual Basic. I am interested in working in New Zealand and I want to know what I salary range I should be shooting for.

Geographical shifts

TMP Worldwide replies: Good question. The salary ranges that we would recommend, based on the New Zealand salaries, would be around $40,000 to $45,000 within developers’ roles. When you arrive in New Zealand, contact a reputable recruiter.
