DWI e-procurement may die

Work and Income NZ's e-procurement project might not proceed when current pilot exercises are finished.

Work and Income NZ’s e-procurement project might not proceed when current pilot exercises are finished.

The department confirms it could decide to move in behind the whole-of-government e-procurement exercise being driven by the State Services Commission’s e-government unit, rather than pursuing its own course.

Last year, it was widely understood that the DWI trial would set the course for the future whole-of-government exercise but in March this year, the e-government unit confirmed that it was working on its own, separate project.

The DWI trials have still to finish, but the department has indicated the project may not proceed to implementation.

“DWI is strongly supportive of the work on e-procurement being done across the state sector, and will await with interest the results of the whole of government tender,” says a departmental statement.

Two consortia, one led by SolNet/Sun/iPlanet and the other by Oracle, are still officially in the hunt for the standalone DWI project.
