Title: Project leader/senior software engineer, Next Window, Auckland.
Function: Bring a new product to market and lead the software team using the latest technologies.
Description: Create business systems and manage projects, database programming, and some liaison with beta companies.
Bringing a new product to market using “novel technology” is the promise of this project leader/senior software engineer vacancy at Next Window.
The year-old start-up aims to produce “through glass touch screens” for use in retail kiosks.
Based in Eden Terrace, Auckland, the three-staff team is backed by the ICAP investment fund nd headed by ex-Talon Technology product designer John Newton and company strategist Andy Nugent.
Newton says the plan is to have the patented product ready for market by year-end, expanding the company — and the successful applicant’s role — in the process.
The senior-level post is newly created, with the person leading the development of the software operation in terms of creating business systems and project management. Some database skills will be expected along with programming and analysis, and using internet-related systems. There will also be some liaison with “beta”companies.
Expected experience also includes project management, experience in project systems and business systems. Some five to six years of experience in a similar role is expected along with tertiary qualifications.
“We are looking for a person who can add a lot of value to the organisation. If it goes well, the post will lead to a very, very senior position within an emerging company. That’s our plan,” says Newton.
The company uses the latest tools, he says.
Newton says: “Our product is a novel technology not done previously. It will have a visible presence in the marketplace.”
The salary is “around $80,000”.
