Fisher & Paykel Finance has opted to go to pilot with a customised version of customer management product Visual Elk hosted by Unisys’ ASP arm.
The decision by the financial services division of the local manufacturer to go with the StayinFront product came some 18 months after the firm started canvassing CRM options and after “three goes” at getting exactly the hosted offering it wanted.
The final “pared-down” version of Visual Elk still came at a pricing advantage over a shrink-wrapped product equivalent, says IT head Stephen Waters. F&P Finance had looked at StayinFront’s entry-level hosted CRM product SplashNet, but found it not feature-rich enough for its needs. StayinFront sells SplashNet directly in the US but through Unisys in New Zealand, and a customisable web-oriented product, WebWorks.
Waters says the latest version of Visual Elk probably also lends itself to the kind of customisation Fisher & Paykel Finance wants. He says the decision to go with the product was a long time coming but the wait enabled the company to achieve a good result.
Visual Elk will only be used in direct marketing campaigns while staff “get a feel for it”, Waters says, though the product may be used for web and email campaigns perhaps another 18 months down the track.
Neither Unisys nor StayinFront did not immediately respond to Computerworld’s inquriries.
