The head of the Warehouse Stationery chain, Robert Smith, says he’s disappointed Gateway is pulling out of New Zealand.
The chain has been selling Gateway PCs to home and small business users since June last year, selling “thousands” in that time, Smith says.
“Always when this happens there’s a certain amount of disappointment,” Smith says. But he says Gateway PC owners needn’t worry about ongoing warranty support, which continues via the 0800 Gateway support line.
Warehouse Stationery is already substituting Hewlett-Packard systems for Gateway, although it expects to have Gateway stock for a few weeks. Smith says he’s also talking to other potential suppliers.
