In recognition of the enormity of yesterday's attacks on the United States, Clear Communications is providing free calls to the US to all Clear residential and Ztalk customers.
The offer will be available until midnight this Friday and applies to both Clear's direct dial and code access customers.
The company says it is making the offer to help ease customer concerns about family and friends based in the United States.
Telecom had asked New Zealanders to limit calling to the United States as much as possible yesterday. Local networks in the US, particularly around New York, were heavily overloaded.
Telecom maintained normal service to the US, but some calls were not connected because of overloading on local networks there.
Early yesterday, Telecom moved rapidly to re-route some traffic to the United Kingdom that is normally carried through New York. Normal service levels were maintained by using its links with other carriers.
