A trip to Sydney by several New Zealand software developers to attend the Australian IT Industry’s Software Showcase conference earlier this month was a success, say some of those who attended.
“It was very good. We spoke to a lot of Australian companies interested in partnering or having an alliance with us,” says Enigma Publishing business development manager Peter Gillies. Enigma is involved in online medical publishing and clinical information systems. The companies Enigma spoke to at the conference include practice management companies and a bioinformatics firm.
Software Consultants group business manager for marketing Mike Ogle also says the trip was valuable. “There weren’t that many end-users there, but that didn’t matter, because we were looking for opportunities to develop relationships with Australian software companies." Despite the low number of end-users, Software Consultants spoke with customers from Australia, China, Thailand and The Philippines.
Auckland-based Software Consultants, an Oracle partner, provides mobile computing, database, help desk, systems conversions and software integration services.
The other companies which went to the show were 4iT International, Arena Consulting, OwlCentral and Reliance Software.
The New Zealand companies’ trip was organised and partly funded by Trade New Zealand.
