The makers of a multi-million dollar documentary on the history of New Zealand are looking at a Canadian website as a starting point for the web component of the project.

Vincent Burke, managing director of Top Shelf Productions, which is making the documentary for TVNZ, says the website is an example of the type of site that it is looking at to complement the television series.

The 500-page website supports the 32-hour, 17-part history series Canada: A People's History, which is currently screening in Canada.

Burke says the local project is still in the early planning stage and web developers haven't yet been chosen. Work won't begin on the website or the documentary until the middle of next year and it will screen in 2004.
