Supplycorp, the company which procures equipment for government agencies, has put out a request to tender for supply of a broad range of computer hardware, including servers, desktops, notebooks and handheld devices.
The contract will run for two years, from the beginning of 2002 to the end of 2003.
Some of the channels from the chosen suppliers may be set up through sister company SupplyNet, provider of a B2B e-procurement service, says SupplyCorp spokesman Neil Blackie, but until the vendors have been selected SupplyCorp will not know whether it is practical for them to supply the hardware online.
SupplyCorp was originally the 50% owner of SupplyNet, but subsequently sold it to Professional Service Brokers. There are, however, still links between the companies.
