Dell NZ manager not replaced

Retiring Dell New Zealand general manager Ross Allan denies that the decision to replace him with someone in Sydney is a retrenchment of operations to Australia.

Retiring Dell New Zealand general manager Ross Allan denies that the decision to replace him with someone in Sydney is a retrenchment of operations to Australia.

Allan has been replaced by Sydney-based Bill Taylor-Mountford.

He says he can't comment on the changes, but rejects the suggestion that they signalled retrenchment to Australia with a firm "Absolutely not".

"Dell has been very good to me. I guess you get to the stage where you have to hand the reins over to another party."

Allan, who spent six-and-a-half years in charge of the local operation, says he will take three months off from working and spend time with his young family. He will also be able to devote more time to racing his Porsche GT3 Cup.

Allan leaves at the end of the week and Taylor-Mountford takes over from Monday.

Taylor-Mountford, who has been at Dell just over four years, is the general manager for large corporate accounts at Dell ANZ.
