Computer Associates NZ has made four staff redundant after 'rolling a couple of functions back into Australia' says managing director Richard Collins.

Computer Associates NZ has made four staff redundant after "rolling a couple of functions back into Australia" says managing director Richard Collins.

The job losses reduce the US-headquartered software giant's New Zealand head count to 31 and follow a 5% reduction in CA's worldwide staff announced last month.

Global chief executive Sanjay Kumar said the cuts were a very difficult decision, but "the changes reflect the complex realities our company and many others are faced with today".

The company lost $US291 million on revenue of $US734 million for the second quarter; a year ago, it reported earnings for the same quarter of $US138 million on revenue of $US1.5 billion.
