Dairy giant Fonterra has yet to decide how to merge its subsidiaries Fencepost and RD1, including their agricultural service websites.
Spokesman Matthew Hooton says these and other issues will only be decided after Brian Bilas, the new chief of the to-be-merged divison, provisionally named Rural Supply Company, officially starts work this week.
"He will become fully briefed and up to speed with all the assets of the companies, their revenue streams, profitability. He will make decisions about the best way to bring the two companies together," Hooton says. The spokesman says no timetable has been set for merging the activities of the two businesses.
The new firm will incorporate the two websites, RD1's 27 AnchorMart stores, Fencepost's 21 Town and Country Stores and both companies' call centres and online merchandising operations.
