EDS’s executive director for the Telecom account, Frank Chechile, has confirmed EDS expects to play a large part in the emerging partnership between Alcatel and Telecom in developing Telecom’s new all-IP network.
The exact role to be played by the computing services company in the deal, announced last month, has yet to be firmed up, Chechile told Computerworld late last week. “It’s still early days and we’ll be in negotiation with Alcatel and Telecom for some time yet. Our exact role is difficult to articulate at this point.”
EDS and Telecom plan a joint briefing for media on the project later this month, “but I doubt whether much more detail will have emerged even by that stage”, Chechile says.
The shape of the tripartite partnership should begin to firm up “early in the new year”, he says.
