Auckland-based IT recruiter Cooper Osborne & Associates has been taken over by global recruiter IT@Manpower.
Even though it will mean the loss of another local face, the parties involved say the deal is “good news” for the New Zealand recruitment industry.
“We have to be alert to opportunities," says director Adrian Osborne. "It’s a deal that everyone is happy with."
All five Cooper Osborne staff, including Osborne and fellow director Grant Cooper, join the new company from the beginning of January.
Osborne says the deal was negotiated over the past two months when the company was faced with renegotiating contracts for premises and websites. It was “time to take stock”, he says, and the company approached IT@Manpower with business ideas which led to the sale.
Osborne won't say how much the business sold for.
Osborne and Cooper have both worked in IT&T for 20 years and moved into recruitment four years ago with the Opal Group, before forming their own company in 1999.
IT@Manpower New Zealand manager Chris Lewis says the US-based giant is aware of other recruiters on the market, such as De Winter International, but is not interested in buying any more.
He confirms earlier Computerworld reports that IT@Manpower will change its name to Elan sometime next year, reflecting US-based Manpower's rebranding of its IT division following the purchase of European IT recruiter Elan last year.
