Domainz, which runs the New Zealand internet domain name register, is seeking an accounting and billing package as part of its new registrar system.
Chief executive Derek Lock says the accounting system will be a straightforward shrink-wrapped package. Domainz currently uses QuickBooks by Quicken.
Core functions of the new package will include general ledger, budget, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation and customer contact management.
Domainz has four administrative staff and about 10 customer service users, and processes 4000 invoices per month. It has 180 wholesale customers and more than 50,000 retail customers.
Lock says the registrar system, of which the accounting and billing package will be part, is separate from the shared registry system (SRS) that Domainz is currently developing. Under the SRS, domain name registrars other than Domainz will be able to bypass Domainz and register directly with the registry.
Both components will form the organisation’s domain name registration system.
