Telecom spokeswoman Mary Parker says the micro-outage problem that users of its JetStream DSL service were blaming on the company’s use of the RIP routing protocol has been fixed.
“On December 16 Nokia completed software upgrades on a core component of the Telecom service,” Parker says. “Telecom also reviewed all modem settings and made appropriate configuration changes. These actions resolved the issues referred to as 'micro-outages'”.
Telecom declines to speculate on any other possible causes of the problem reported by Landonline users, since it involves another company.
Could the interruptions be due to any other failure on the part of Telecom and/or Xtra? “Not to our knowledge”, Parker replies.
