HP-Compaq merger approved by Commere Commission

The Commerce Commission has today given its approval to the merger of Hewlett-Packard and Compaq in New Zealand.

The Commerce Commission has today given its approval to the merger of Hewlett-Packard and Compaq in New Zealand.

Commission chair John Belgrave says the regulatory body is satisfied that the proposed acquisition would not substantially lessen competition in any market.

The deal awaits HP and Compaq shareholder approval. They will vote on it next month.
