Silicon Valley will be the venue for the inaugural Kiwi Expats Association (KEA) meeting this month.
The association’s establishment is an initiative of last year’s Knowledge Wave conference in Auckland. Organiser Mark Vivian says backers, including The Warehouse founder Stephen Tindall, have provided $100,000 to get KEA off the ground.
He expects Silicon Valley-based New Zealanders in the IT industry will be well represented at the day-long March 16 event, which will be addressed by science and technology minister Pete Hodgson.
The purpose is to “start connecting the expatriate community so they can be used as a resource by New Zealand businesses”, Vivian says.
Plans are also being worked on to launch a London-based group.
