The new head of BankDirect is ASB Bank's manager of electronic bank and cards, James Mitchell.
The appointment has been announced internally, but there has been no official comment from the bank.
Mitchell replaces the online bank's founding chief Jane Freeman, who has been plucked to run the new Telecom-Microsoft-EDS e-commerce joint venture, eSolutions.
Mitchell had been in his role at ASB, Bank Direct's parent company, for five months. Before that he worked in similar fields with ANZ bank in Melbourne, Jakarta and Wellington.
Mitchell told @IDG yesterday that he was "very excited," about his new post. "It's a great opportunity".
