Telecom has been having trouble billing those Net customers who do not use its 0867 dial-up number and has waived some customer bills.
A Clear Net customer who had been billed intermittently, and was worried about receiving an unexpected big bill out, wrote to Telecom to complain. In response, Meredith Taylor of Telecom's Billing Integrity Group said "due to intermittent technical difficulty with billing, delays in processing calls have been experienced. On the 4th February 2000 this problem was resolved and so billing will resume from your next statement."
As a gesture of goodwill, however, Taylor said "all Local Internet calls made prior to February 4 2000 will be waived". Telecom was not available for comment on whether all customers will receive such a waiver.
